Forever Young

Rod Stewart was on Katie Couric today....I've listened to him since high school yet he's only 9 years older than me.

And I love his longevity and family life. He loves his kids and I'm all for that.

He has a Christmas album coming out. I'll buy it tomorrow and sing while I decorate my fake Christmas tree.

The Genesis

My afflictions allow me time to sit with my legs elevated and crochet, cross stitch and internet surf.  I would much rather run and play with my dog Scout, the Jack Russell terrier, but he has told me he understands.  He doesn't judge.  he licks my face to encourage.  However, he is a doodoo eater. Lucky me.

He's seen me fall more than once in the last year.  He knows my cane means I'm moving more than ten feet.  He follows me for entertainment.

Yet I am his genesis, since June 1, 2011, he hung on my left shoulder.  He lives under my feet 24/7.  He goes to the bathroom with me.  He sits under my chair in the breakfast room, he sleeps next to me.  We're attached at the hip.  And he is my connection.

Mirror, Mirror

He captured my heart in the 70s

He looked like this then:

He looks like this now:

It was just yesterday, where the hell did time go?

I'm telling myself to be thankful this season for what I have this day, and that the future is icing.

Ruffinism for the day:  Scout having a peeing accident is not the worst that can happen today.  Although, it rates a close second.

Long Absence

Cut to the chase...COPD, Rheumatoid Arthritis, Farrow Wraps.......then

November and Congestive Heart Failure....I gained 40 pounds in 4 months, all fluid, all in my lungs and around my heart.  Mr. Ruffin put me in the hospital on the 12th of November and busted me out 16th.  We had our 30th wedding anniversary on the 13th in the hospital....

I'm so much my age, 58 on the 8th.  I told a young nurse in the hospital that I had been ridden long and hung up wet too many times and she had no idea what I was talking about.  Youth is so wasted on the young.

I've lost the 40 pounds in a matter of one week thanks to diuretics by IV and an overhauled low, low, low sodium diet.  I have a long way to go, many mountains to climb, but God is with me, and of course Jim and Clif.  Jim refuses to let go, he has a new workout schedule for me.

Cut to the chase....I'm getting better again.

Thank you to those who prayed for my sorry ass...and my grateful soul.
